The Sewer User Charges are collected quarterly – in January, April, July, and October. The January 1st billing is for the months of October, November, and December. The April 1st billing is for the months of January, February, and March, and so forth. The Sewer User Charges pay for all expenses of the Districts Wastewater Collection System, the District billing from the Wastewater Control Commission, and a portion of the District’s administrative costs.
Payment is due on the 14th of the month. If payment is not received, a Penalty Billing with an additional 1.5% is assessed to the customer and a Billing Statement sent. Should payment not be received for a complete year, the total assessed penalty is 18%.
Each year, the October 1st billing is mailed out in late September to assure that customers have ample time to meet the October 14th due date. On October 15th a penalty is assessed and certified letters are written and sent to those from whom payment has not been received.
On November 1st, a list with the name, parcel number, and amount owed is compiled. An additional 10% penalty assessed and the list is given to the Clerk of the Town of Fox Lake. The amount owed with penalty will appear on the customers Real Estate tax bill as a Delinquent Utility item.
Lake Management costs consist of a portion of the Districts administrative budget, grant shares, Lake Patrol share, cost of planned lake projects, etc. and appears on your real estate tax bill as LAKE DISTRICT tax levy.
Your sewer bill does not pay for lake management projects and your tax levy does not pay for sewer projects
